As a volunteer initiative you are what make these kids dreams come true.
Volunteer photographers are the lifeblood of our organization. Photographers are needed throughout the state, as we hold multiple photo shoots each year in Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, Chattanooga, and Knoxville, to make it convenient for social workers transporting children. Contact us to discuss your location and availability, and share your portfolio with us. All volunteer photographers are required to submit to and pass a background investigation.
Wonderful news! We are always seeking new places to position our exhibit and create public awareness. We offer both freestanding and wall exhibits to accommodate a variety of indoor spaces. We welcome the opportunity to exhibit in community centers, retail outlets, libraries, churches, organizations, businesses and more. Contact us to discuss your location and date considerations.
100% of all funds donated are utilized for the promotion of these valuable children. Your funds will be used for the setup of our exhibits, display stands, materials and more that we need to purchase. Your donations help to make these expenses possible and help us exhibit in more than one location at a time. Our biggest and most frequent expense is the printing of new canvas images of waiting children.
We strive to make our photo shoots fun and enjoyable for kids of all ages. We have been fortunate to have zoos, parks, museums and more open their doors to us, providing free admission for a photo shoot. Kids get to come take their pictures and then explore at their leisure. If you work for or have a connection to an organization that would be great to host a photo shoot, please contact us to discuss the possibilities. We are open to locations anywhere in Tennessee. We especially need great indoor locations during the winter months.
During our first year of operation (2013), we were able to provide beautiful, professional quality images to 82 kids. 17 of those kids were adopted. We processed 98 online inquiries from prospective parents and educated countless more through our exhibiting and online efforts. Since then we have also added a Facebook fan page in which more than 1,000 people follow and share our announcements about the waiting children. We continue to expand our efforts to promotion and education, helping to make the public aware and active in helping the waiting children of Tennessee.
Absolutely! We have been invited to speak about the adoptable waiting children of Tennessee to multiple organizations. We have partnered with pastors presenting sermons based focused on adoption and caring for orphans. We have spoken with organizations focused on helping the children. We have spread the message of adoption awareness to foster parents during PATH training sessions. And more! Let us know what you have in mind and we can review how we can help.
America’s Kids Belongs is focused on uniting government, faith-based, business and creative communities to end the foster care and adoption crisis in the U.S. – state by state. Our partnership with them began in May 2016 and involves AKB bringing professional videographers out to our photo shoots to capture video interviews for further promotion of our kids. Video features better showcase a child’s personality and capture more interest than photos alone. We are thrilled to have AKB’s partnering with us to help capture more community involvement and awareness. They also provide refreshments and brand new donated clothing to kids attending the sessions.
