About The Heart Gallery of Tennessee

The Heart Gallery of Tennessee is an art exhibit and community education/outreach initiative featuring Tennessee foster children who are available for adoption. We work together with The Department of Children’s Services of Tennessee and volunteer photographers to capture pictures of these precious kids. We then create an online gallery and traveling exhibit to share with the community. Our goal is to help get exposure for these kids and find them a forever family.

Our Process

Photographing Children

We come alongside TN Department of Children’s Services to provide professional photographs of the waiting children within the foster care system. We recruit professional photographers willing to volunteer their time and talents to serve in this capacity. After setting a date and location for the photo shoot, we then notify DCS, who announces the available photo shoot to the region of social workers, who can transport children in their charge who need images for recruitment purposes.

Videography with AKB

Our newest venture for 2016, is our partnership with America’s Kids Belongs. This amazing organization works in tandem with us to provide videography services at our photo shoots. This way kids are being photographed and videotaped all in one trip. Video has proven again and again, to be more effective at helping to convey a child’s personality and attract potential adoptive parents, than just photos alone. So we are very excited about this partnership and the great service AKB is providing to these kids in need.

Promotion Efforts

Once we have images of a child ready, we host them on our website along with a brief biography about the child and their interests and needs. Bios are kept non-specific and without identifying details for the protection of the children. Additionally we print large canvas images of each child and display them on portable exhibits throughout the state. We have put exhibits in churches, libraries, banks and more. We are always open to new locations willing to host an exhibit for a month or longer, to help us expand public awareness.

Our History

Since 2013
The Heart Gallery of Tennessee, founded in 2013, is the first in the state, but one of dozens throughout the country. There are over 120 different Heart Galleries in different counties and cities across America. Each with the same united purpose of helping available foster kids find a permanent home. There are nearly 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. 1/4 of those, 100,000, have had all parental rights terminated and are now eligible for adoption.

How We Operate

100% Volunteer Based
The Heart Galley of Tennessee is a non-profit, 100% volunteer based organization. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers and donors to successfully market and promote the children and teens available for adoption in the state’s custody. 100% of all funds donated go to the promotion of these valuable children.
