Cody is a very intelligent and friendly young man. He is very inquisitive and asks many questions. He very much wants to be part of the decision-making process as it relates to his adoptive home, school placement and other pertinent aspects of his well-being. He enjoys going to basketball games. Cody says his favorite NBA teams are the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Oklahoma City Thunder, and his favorite college team is the Memphis Tigers. He also enjoys playing basketball or football with peers at school. He enjoys staying active and taking trips with the family such as going to the park, out to eat or to sporting events. If he cannot be out of the home participating in activities, he enjoys playing video games or watching television. Cody has recently become involved in a peer group learning independent living skills. He really enjoys the opportunity to learn real-life skills, such as how to start his own business. When asked to describe himself, Cody states, “I’m fun, smart and active.”
Cody needs a family with patience and nurture, who can offer plenty of support for his emotional needs. Cody needs a family who will also provide plenty of structure and consistency to help him with building trust and attachment. Though Cody is very intelligent, he needs a family who will be involved with his academics. He needs a family that will help motivate him to utilize his intelligence to reach his highest academic potential, as well as assists him with making positive decisions at school as it relates to his schoolwork and his social interactions with adults and peers. Cody would benefit from a family who will encourage him to become active in extracurricular activities. Active involvement and interest in a positive social activity could really help Cody with many of his emotional and social needs.
