Ashley / Chris is looking for a family that would be willing to support her journey as she explores topics related to her identity and goals to become an independent young adult. Ashley is talented artistically and loves to draw anime, people, tattoo ideas, and crosses. She enjoys reading any type of fiction, fantasy or young adult novels. She likes listening to most styles of music with her preferences being rock and a little rap, but in her own words “never Country.” Ashley can sing and dance when she wants to. Ashley would like to learn how to play the guitar. Ashley enjoys socializing with friends and is very likeable. She desires to pursue a college education after she finishes high school. She said she likes helping others and regularly contemplates the meaning of life and what her future will bring.
Ashley has reported that she would prefer living in a home that does not have a strong religious affiliation or that would not expect her to have the same outlook as she is undecided regarding spirituality. Ashley has some contact with family members and hopes to find a family that would allow her to continue those relationships. Ashley is open to nontraditional family arrangements. She likely would do best in a home without other children, but would need to be the youngest sibling in a home. Ashley has said that she would be very interested in moving to a state outside of Tennessee as well.
Ashley has experienced a great deal of rejection in her past and will need a family that is willing to engage in the therapeutic process to support Ashley as she continues to heal. Ashley has a mind of her own and can articulate her thoughts well. She would benefit from having a family that is able to utilize consistent boundaries but also includes her in the decision-making process. Ashley reflected that she is looking for just the right family and wants to make the best of the difficult journey she has experienced so far in life.
